Will there be a payday 33/19/2023 Instead they'll wait until everything has withered and the money is drying up. They had several years of lots of PD2 money to develop PD3 with active player base giving limitless information and testing. It'll mean that it could be ten years(!) from the release of PD2 to PD3. It's idiotic that they "started" working on PD3 when PD2 was about to be cut off. It's obvious that if the company was being run properly PD3 would be near completion NOW. I can only imagine the hell of people being pulled in from everywhere as additional manpower that game's terrible half-finished release. People were fainting from not having time to eat for days with the workload! ZERO chance of real work done on PD3. They were doing death march 100 hour work weeks of endless crunch and needing to get therapy to survive working on OTWD, there's no way they had time to do anything substantial that is PD3 related beyond wish lists we've seen on the forum. The Eurogamer article on the company was very damning and made it clear that the practical work on PD3 is basically non-existent. We'll have nothing to place confidence in until we see some actual productive work done with real results. Even if it's in a worse place than even Hollywood development hell of no escape with a side order of certain doom. If I have a piece of paper and write "Payday 3 Ideas" then that is technically some work on it. "Working on it" or "pre-production", etc. I'm not holding out for any hope, but at the same time I don't want to see the company fail. PayDay 3 will take place in New York City and will see the original gang return to the franchise, Starbreeze Studios has confirmed during a 10th anniversary. Overkill spent most of OTWD's dev cycle learning UE4 and even then only had like half the time of most other UE games as of late, so I'd think asking for help from the community in exchange for early access to PD3's alpha beta, discounted prices, and the ability to vote in polls as to what weapons/masks/heists make it into the game could build some sort of equilibrium until the company can get back on its feet. Honestly, best-case scenario is Overkill publishes it as an early access game in 2020, and uses community feedback and help to ensure that it has a chance to grow and stand up on its own. Things aren't looking too good but we could still get a Payday 3. The game is planned to release in 2023.There is development work happening, but chances are either Starbreeze collapses before its finished and some other company reboots development after buying Overkill (my money's on THQ Nordic), which might lead to a 2021 release, or Starbreeze rushes the game out the door as quick as possible to turn a profit, leading to Payday 3 either launching as an "early-access" full-price retail game, or merely an incredibly underbaked sequel that wows nobody. Payday 3 will be developed using Unreal Engine. In March 2021, Koch Media committed to pay €50 million to assist in the game's development and marketing, including more than 18 months of post-launch support using the games as a service model. Publisher Starbreeze Studios announced in May 2016 that Payday 3 was in development at Overkill Software, after Starbreeze acquired the rights to the intellectual property for around US$30 million. Payday 3 will take place in the 2020s, intended to add more depth to the Payday Gang's crimes with game-changing differences like more advanced surveillance or the rise of cryptocurrency. The first mission will take place at the "Gold & Sharke Incorporated" bank. The original crew of characters originating from Payday: The Heist ("Dallas", "Chains", "Wolf", and "Hoxton") will be in Payday 3, and the game will take place mainly in New York. The game will take place after the ending of Payday 2 where the heisters went separate ways and left their lives of crime, but something is to re-motivate the Payday Gang to continue crime. Payday 3 is an upcoming first-person shooter game developed by Overkill Software and published by Starbreeze Studios and Prime Matter.
